  13. This file contains information not available during the printing of 
  14. the manual.  Please read its contents before you proceed with the 
  15. installation procedure.

  25. 1. RUNNING THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM
  26.  
  27. The installation program allows you to set up your CD-ROM drive 
  28. under Windows 3.1/DOS or Windows 95.
  29.  
  30. To set up your drive in Windows 3.1/DOS, run INSTALL.EXE at the 
  31. DOS prompt.
  32.  
  33. To set up your drive in Windows 95, run SETUP.EXE in Windows 95.

  36. 2. UPDATING DRIVERS FOR WINDOWS 95
  37.  
  38. To update the drivers required for Windows 95:
  39.  
  40. a. In the Control Panel folder, double-click the System icon to 
  41.    show the System Properties dialog box.
  42.  
  43. b. Select the Device Manager tab in the System Properties dialog 
  44.    box.
  45.  
  46. c. Double-click the appropriate item e.g. "Sound, video and game 
  47.    controllers" to display the devices installed in your system.
  48.  
  49. d. Double-click the device you wish to update (e.g. Creative 
  50.    Labs Sound Blaster 16 or AWE-32).The Properties dialog box 
  51.    of the selected device appears.
  52.  
  53. e. Select the Driver tab in the Properties dialog box and choose 
  54.    Change Driver.  The Select Device dialog box appears.
  55.  
  56. f. Choose Have Disk in the Select Device dialog box.  
  57.    The Install From Disk dialog box appears.
  58.  
  59. g. Enter the path where the new drivers are located and choose OK. 
  60.    The Select Device dialog box appears.
  61.  
  62. h. Choose OK to return to the Properties dialog box.
  63.  
  64. i. Choose OK to exit the Properties dialog box.
  65.    The drivers will be copied to your Windows directory.
  66.  
  67. j. Choose Close to exit the System Properties dialog box.
  68.    The System Settings Change dialog box appears.

  70. k. Choose OK to restart your system.

  73. 3. MSCDEX.EXE DRIVER
  74.  
  75.    To use your CD-ROM drive under Windows 3.1 or DOS, the 
  76.    Microsoft CD-ROM extension driver (MSCDEX.EXE) must be loaded.
  77.  
  78.    The installation allows you to search for this driver in your 
  79.    system. It will then copy this driver to your <dir>\DRV directory 
  80.    and place a command in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to load this 
  81.    driver when your system boots up.
  82.  
  83.      Note : <dir> is your target installation directory.
  84.  
  85.    If you do not have the MSCDEX.EXE driver in your system,option 2 
  86.    allows you to add a remarked statement in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.  
  87.    If you do so, you will then need to obtain this driver from your 
  88.    vendor and copy it to your <dir>\DRV sub-directory.  Finally, 
  89.    remember to remove "REM" from the command that loads the 
  90.    MSCDEX.EXE driver in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
